AI HALLUCINATION

1.) what happened in the first episode on inuyasha

2.)

The first episode of Inuyasha (titled “The Girl Who Overcame Time…and the Boy Who Was Just Overcome”) sets up the entire story. Here’s what happens:

  • Feudal Era (flashback):
The half-demon Inuyasha attacks a village to steal the Sacred Jewel (Shikon no Tama). He wants it to become a full demon. However, Kikyo, a priestess, wounds him with a sacred arrow, pinning him to a tree. He falls into a magical sleep that lasts for fifty years. Kikyo herself is mortally wounded in battle and dies, instructing her younger sister Kaede to burn the jewel with her body.
  • Modern Day (Tokyo):
We meet Kagome Higurashi, a 15-year-old girl living at a shrine with her family. On her birthday, she is pulled into the old shrine’s well by a centipede demon searching for the Sacred Jewel. Instead of dying, Kagome is transported back in time—specifically, to Japan’s Sengoku period.
  • Back in the Past:
Kagome encounters villagers and then finds Inuyasha pinned to the tree. The villagers recognize Kagome’s resemblance to Kikyo. When the centipede demon attacks again, Kagome accidentally awakens the Sacred Jewel, which had been reborn inside her body. Inuyasha demands to be freed so he can fight, but Kagome doesn’t trust him.
  • Cliffhanger:
The episode ends with the setup of Kagome’s mysterious connection to Kikyo, the Sacred Jewel reappearing, and Inuyasha still sealed to the tree—leaving everything poised for the adventure to begin.

Do you want me to give you just a short recap like this for each episode, or a more detailed scene-by-scene breakdown?

3.) why did inuyasha try and steal the shikon jewel

Inuyasha wanted to steal the Shikon Jewel because it had the power to greatly enhance a being’s strength.

At that point in the story (before he met Kagome), Inuyasha’s biggest insecurity was his half-demon nature—he was born from a human mother and a powerful dog-demon father. This made him “too weak” to be fully demon and distrusted by humans for being part demon. He believed that if he had the jewel, he could become a full demon and gain the strength, respect, and freedom he longed for.

So, his attempt to steal the jewel wasn’t just for power’s sake—it came from a place of loneliness and resentment toward being “in-between” two worlds.

👉 Later on, after meeting Kagome, his feelings about the jewel and about himself start to shift.

Do you want me to also explain how Kikyo factored into that motivation (since their relationship complicated his desire for the jewel)?

4 and 5.) It failed to communicate why those things happened: those are reasons, however it was manipulation by the character named Naraku, the AI completely disregarded this information and pinned Inuyasha as more one dimensional than he actually was.

6.)  This shows that the AI does not really dig deep into the plot, if there was no information given: it is taken from a data base and does not delve deep into it once it think it has the reason

Prompt: “Why does the rotary engine in the 2026 Mazda MX-5 get bad gas mileage?”

ChatGPT’s Response: It responded by mentioning the bad gas mileage the 2026 Mazda MX-5 gets due to the unique function its rotary engine has.

Follow up: I asked it to provide me with resources for the information.

What did ChatGPT Get Wrong? Honestly, it just got the vehicle mixed up. The information it gave me regarding the rotary engine and its inefficiency on fuel mileage seems to be accurate. The resources it provided me were specifically towards news articles referring to just the rotary engine and Mazda.

Why do I think it kept hallucinating? I gave it a small lie that most likely got swept under it’s radar. The vehicle; Mazda MX-5 does not contain a rotary engine. Additionally, the 2026 model year has also not started production yet. The vehicle ChatGPT is referring to is Mazda’s RX8. Furthermore, there has been fake news articles regarding the new MX-5 featuring a rotary engine and perhaps the dataset ChatGPT was trained on contained some of that.

What are the ethical implications of generative AI hallucinations? Generative AI always sounds so convincing with the answers they give. This makes it easy for AI to spread misinformation (especially how Google shows AI answers on top of search results now). Speaking of Google, I gave it the same prompt to Gemini and caught on the lie I gave it. Perhaps it’s because I have the Pro version?
